Tailoring in WoW Forever: bags, bolts and launch profits
Tailoring guide for WoW Forever: level the skill on farmed cloth, sell bags in launch week, and pick the right recipe targets as phases open.
By the WoW Forever Talents team · Updated 2026-11-06
Tailoring is the launch-economy craft in WoW Forever. Everyone needs bags, mages and warlocks need robes, and cloth drops while you quest, so the materials cost you nothing but bag space. If you want one profession that prints gold in week one, this is the shortlist.
Why Tailoring wins launch week
Bag slots are the first purchase every new character makes, and the race to 60 fills bags faster than vendors empty them. Runecloth Bags at the top and every size below them sell continuously through launch month. Meanwhile the cloth you farm leveling a Mage or Warlock converts directly into skill points, then into stock.
Skill path 1 to 300
- 1-60: Bolt of Linen Cloth, then Linen Belts.
- 60-115: Bolt of Woolen Cloth and Woolen items.
- 115-155: Silk headbands and shoulders.
- 155-185: Bolt of Mageweave.
- 185-230: Mageweave bags and gloves.
- 230-260: Runecloth bolts.
- 260-300: Runecloth Bags and Runecloth shoulders.
Craft bags at every bracket where a bag recipe exists. Selling the bag funds the next 20 points.
What to sell, in order
Small silk and mageweave bags first, while everyone is broke and leveling. Runecloth Bags take over once the first wave hits 50 and starts earning. Robes and stat cloth pieces sell steadily to fresh casters; check the Mage builds and Warlock builds pages for the stat priorities your customers care about. Later phases bring the classic BoE set recipes, and those are the long-term money.
Tailoring or Enchanting?
They pair, since green crafts disenchant into dust. But as a pair they eat two slots with no gathering income. Solo players usually run Tailoring plus Skinning or Mining, sell the gather output, and let an alt handle disenchants. See the Enchanting guide before deciding.
FAQ
Is Tailoring good in WoW Forever? Yes. Bags sell all launch month, materials are free if you quest, and caster gear demand never stops.
How do I level Tailoring cheaply? Craft bolts and bags from your own farmed cloth and sell the bags back into the market you leveled on.
What bags sell best at launch? Every size sells, and small bags sell best early when gold is scarce. Runecloth Bags dominate once the economy matures.
